VANAKKAM

🌾 We are farmers from the Tirupur–Coimbatore–Pollachi region. Every ingredient is either grown on our farm or sourced from farmers we know by name, in the same land we grew up in.

🏪 Most oils today are extracted at high heat and speed. The nutrients are gone before the bottle even reaches your kitchen.

❌ We couldn't accept that.

👵🏻 In our grandmothers' kitchens, oil was pressed using a Marachekku — a traditional wooden pestle — slowly, at room temperature. Nothing lost. Nothing added. Nothing to hide.

✨ We looked at what the industry had become, and decided to go back to what worked. That's why we started Grandma Pure.

🌀 The oil is extracted at room temperature — our wooden pestle (Marachekku / Kachi Ghani) rotates at just 8 rotations per minute. Slow enough to preserve what the seed holds. Slow enough that nothing burns. Slow enough to do it right.

🧪 No chemicals. No shortcuts. Just oil the way it used to be — nutritious, naturally aromatic.

📦 Pressed in small batches. Delivered fresh to you.

3 simple ways to verify purity at home

The smell is gentle — not strong

Our oil is pressed slowly at 36°C. The natural aroma is there — you will smell the groundnut — but it is clean and soft, not sharp or pungent. A strong smell in oil means heat was used. Gentle means it was pressed the right way.

The oil feels slightly thicker

Cold pressed oil keeps all its natural goodness intact. This makes it slightly fuller in body than refined oil. If the oil feels thin and watery, it has been stripped. A richer pour is a good sign.

Colour — Deep golden amber

Pure cold pressed groundnut oil is deep golden amber — not pale yellow. The pale colour of commercial oils is the result of bleaching. Our oil's rich colour comes directly from the groundnut.

Farm to Bottle

Our groundnuts are cultivated on our family farm and sourced directly from smallholder farmers across the Tirupur, Coimbatore, and Pollachi agricultural belt. The native soil conditions and traditional farming practices produce groundnuts that are naturally sweet and nutrient-dense. We hand-shell and sort the nuts to ensure only clean, healthy, and premium quality seeds are loaded into our wooden pestle, ensuring no bitter aftertaste or contaminants enter the oil.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is your return policy?

We offer free return and replacement if the product delivered is damaged or the wrong product has been sent. To be eligible, please ensure the product is in its original condition and returned in the original packaging. Once the oil has been opened or used, we are unable to accept a return. Please check the product on delivery before opening.

Can I cancel my order?

Orders cannot be cancelled once placed. Please review your order carefully before confirming. If you have received a damaged or wrong product, our return and replacement policy applies.

Is this oil truly unrefined?

Yes — completely. Pressed in a traditional wooden ghani below 36°C, naturally settled, cloth-filtered, and bottled. No bleaching, no deodorising, no chemical treatment at any stage.

Can I deep fry with this oil?

Yes. Cold pressed groundnut oil has a smoke point of approximately 190–200°C — suitable for deep frying puris, samosas, vadas, and other traditional preparations. The natural flavour it adds is a bonus.

Why does this look darker than store-bought groundnut oil?

Commercial groundnut oil is bleached to achieve a pale, uniform appearance. Our oil retains its natural amber colour — this is a sign of purity. The aroma will also be significantly stronger and nuttier than refined oil. Both are natural characteristics of unprocessed oil.

How should I store the oil?

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Shelf life is 12 months. No preservatives are needed or added.

Where are the groundnuts sourced from?

From the Tirupur - Coimbatore - Pollachi region in Tamil Nadu, grown on our farm or sourced directly from local farmers we know personally. We are still building full traceability systems, so we keep sourcing local, farmer-direct, and batch-led.

The oil foams / froths while frying — is something wrong?

No — this is completely normal for unrefined cold pressed oil and a sign of purity. Natural moisture and plant compounds remaining in unprocessed oil cause slight foaming when heated. Refined oils are heavily processed to remove these, which is why they look "clean" in the pan. The froth settles quickly and does not affect taste or quality.

Storage Instructions

Store in a cool, dry place. Groundnut oil remains liquid at room temperature and is highly stable. Keep away from direct heat and direct sunlight to avoid natural oxidation. Close the cap tightly. Shelf life: 12 months.

The aroma seems mild — is the oil actually cold pressed?

Yes — and this is a common misunderstanding worth explaining. Slow wood pressed oils at 36°C have a subtle, natural aroma — not a strong, pungent one. What correctly signals genuine cold pressed groundnut oil: (1) Deep golden-amber colour — not bleached pale. (2) Slightly fuller body and viscosity. (3) Noticeably richer flavour in cooking. (4) Clean nutty scent — natural and present, not overpowering.
